As a culmination of her experiences in Central and Southern Europe with various artist collectives Heidee Alsdorf offers Collective Performance & Play, a dance-theatre workshop designed to raise questions about boundaries and binaries existing in conventional theatre and dance spaces. This workshop is appropriate for a variety of adult individuals from student performers, to performing professional, and curious individuals with no prior experience.

The workshop engages participants in a shared commitment to listen, and take care of each other, ourselves, and our shared space while facilitating individual and group expressions thru work with body and voice.
We will explore contemporary performance skills such as spacial shaping and relationship, timing, rhythm, and repetition, as well as simple somatic tools for centring, grounding, and listening. With these tools, we play a game in which our creative decision making processes are the playground.

Biography:

Heidee Lyn Alsdorf (she | her)
b.1993, is an interdisciplinary and collaborative performance artist, body worker, and teacher. Heidee grew up as a second generation settler in the southernmost region of the Ozark mountains (Northwest Arkansas). She currently resides in the Arno River Valley of Tuscany, Italy with ongoing projects in Europe and the United States.

Heidee holds a B.F.A. in Dance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (USA), an M.F.A. in Physical Theatre from Accademia dell’Arte (IT) in partnership with Mississippi University for Women (USA), and a certification to teach Scott Puttnam's Elemental Body Alignment System. She is a candidate to receive certification in Dry Massage Therapy from Oligenesi (IT) in 2022. In the past, Heidee has performed in productions with choreographers such as Isabel Lewis, Giorgio Rossi, Rennie Harris, and Stephanie Thibeault. She has been seen as a guest artist with Divadlo Continuo (CZ), Familie Flöz (DE), Flic Scuola di Circo (IT), Teatro C'Art (IT), Spazio Seme (IT), Broken Jump Theatre (IT), The Arkansas Repertory Theatre (USA), Little Rock Wind Symphony (USA), and Teebodans (USA).

In practice, Heidee is committed to care and social change toward decolonization of performance spaces and embodiment practices. Her performance work interlaces her research on sensation, memory, human behaviour, and relationships. By exploring intersections between dance, theatre, somatics, vocal expression, and collective action, Heidee asks questions about what brings people together and how we can better support each other in creative practice to imagine and bring forth the future we want to experience together.
