Find summertime “magic on the mountain” with a session of “Forest Bathing” on top of Mt. Sequoyah! Join Forest Therapy Guide Emmie Brenzel in slow and gentle activities in a natural setting that can accommodate most fitness levels. There are opportunities for silence, observation, and listening, interspersed with optional sharing in a group setting. “Forest Bathing” or Forest Therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku. In forest bathing, people spend time in nature soaking in the “medicine of being in the forest” to enhance their health and well-being. The Forest Therapy experience concludes with a closing Tea Ceremony. Forest Therapy is not a lengthy nature hike, a naturalist outing, or a substitute for medical treatment. Forest Therapy invites participants to reconnect with their senses, awaken their imaginations, and tap into their creative potential. This is an outdoor class and participants are encouraged to dress for the weather including rain gear/sunglasses/hat/sunscreen/bug spray/water. Please allow two hours for this experience. Walk is limited to 15 participants, ages 15 and older.
